Shooting in mountain environments brings a unique set of challenges. You can find your self shooting high angles both up and down mountainsides, shooting across canyons, or dealing with highly complex wind scenarios with changing thermals and unique terrain features. As a hunter it's rare to get to shoot in the type of environment we may be hunting in with similar conditions. This course is designed to change that. Depending on the range used we will be at 4000 to 6500 feet of elevation in true back country terrain.

Topics that will be covered:

- High angle shooting

- Reading terrain

- Wind calling

- Thermals

- Positional shooting on natural features

- Overcoming natural obstacles

- Tripod shooting

- External ballistic changes

Required Gear:

- Rifle capable of shooting 1 MOA or better

- Adjustable power scope

- 130-160 rounds of match grade ammo

- Bipod

- A tripod is highly recommended

- Shooting bag

- Hunting gear (whatever your set up is)

This is a physically intensive course. You will be hiking up and down hills and mountain sides for the duration of this course. You will need to be self sufficient with packing all your gear, food and water for this class.

This is not a beginner course. This class will require you to have an understanding of shooting fundamentals and ballistic data to get the most out of this class.

As long-range shooters, we have milestones in the sport. We start at 100 yards. Most make it to 300 yards, and then we all want that 1000-yard impact. So what do we go for after that? Well, here is your chance to knock out that elusive 1-mile impact and have a full day dedicated to true long-range shooting. We will have our ELR firing line fully set up out to a mile (1760 yards) and possibly even out to 2000 yards (depending on landowner permission).

Who is this class for? This is for the shooter who is looking to push their rifle and ammo to the limit. It is not a beginner course, but we are not setting any prerequisites other than requiring an understanding of marksmanship fundamentals and ballistic data. If you are unsure if this course is for you or if you want to take this but have not taken any courses before, we do have a 2-day fundamentals course two days before this class to get you up to speed if needed. We will offer special bundle prices if you want to come out for all 3 days of shooting.

Rifle requirements: To be able to reach these extended distances, you will need to have a minimum of a 20 MOA rail on your rifle; otherwise, you won't make it out to the distance. You will also need to have a modern scope (adjustable magnification, dialable elevation/wind, and parallax adjustments) with a magnification of 15x or greater. A 5-25x scope would be ideal for this course. We are setting a caliber limit of 338 Cal or smaller. The approximate round count for the course will be 60-80 rounds.
Course outline:

07:30 Liability waiver/safety brief
08:00 Zero period
09:00 Data overview/data confirmation
10:00 Wind clinic and calling techniques
11:00 Lunch break
11:45 Head to the ELR range and shoot from 300 yards to a mile or further.
14:00 Course wrap-up, answer any questions
14:15 Open range for those who want to shoot more
