Shooting in mountain environments brings a unique set of challenges. You can find your self shooting high angles both up and down mountainsides, shooting across canyons, or dealing with highly complex wind scenarios with changing thermals and unique terrain features. As a hunter it's rare to get to shoot in the type of environment we may be hunting in with similar conditions. This course is designed to change that. Depending on the range used we will be at 4000 to 6500 feet of elevation in true back country terrain.

Topics that will be covered:

- High angle shooting

- Reading terrain

- Wind calling

- Thermals

- Positional shooting on natural features

- Overcoming natural obstacles

- Tripod shooting

- External ballistic changes ‍Required

Gear:

- Rifle capable of shooting 1 MOA or better

- Adjustable power scope

- 100-130 rounds of match grade ammo

- Bipod

- A tripod is highly recommended

- Shooting bag

- Hunting gear (whatever your set up is)

This is a physically intensive course. You will be hiking up and down hills and mountain sides for the duration of this course. You will need to be self sufficient with packing all your gear, food and water for this class. This is not a beginner course. This class will require you to have an understanding of shooting fundamentals and ballistic data to get the most out of this class.

Make it to a Mile- 2 Day (Woodland CA)
October 11, 2024
675.00
Woodland CA

As long-range shooters, we have milestones in the sport. We start at 100 yards. Most make it to 300 yards, and then we all want that 1000-yard impact. So what do we go for after that? Well, here is your chance to knock out that elusive 1-mile impact and have a full day dedicated to true long-range shooting. We will have our ELR firing line fully set up out to a mile (1760 yards)

Who is this class for? This is for the shooter who is looking to push their rifle and ammo to the limit. We are making this a 2 day course to allow any level of shooter try their hand at this class and not feel like they are being left behind.

Rifle requirements: To be able to reach these extended distances, you will need to have a minimum of a 20 MOA rail on your rifle; otherwise, you won't make it out to the distance. You will also need to have a modern scope (adjustable magnification, dialable elevation/wind, and parallax adjustments) with a magnification of 15x or greater. A 5-25x scope would be ideal for this course. We are setting a caliber limit of 338 Cal or smaller. The approximate round count for the course will be 80-120 rounds. spotting gear is also highly recommended for this class but is not a requirement.

Course outline:

Day 1:

  • zero check/ conformation
  • data over view/trueing ballistics
  • data conformation out to 1000 yards
  • shot correction drills
  • shooter spotter communication

Day 2:

  • zero check
  • wind calling
  • external ballistic factors for extended distances
  • shooting from 100-1760 yards

The cost for the course will be $675.00 for both days, and that includes all range fees and materials. A 50% deposit will be required to hold your spot. Deposits can be made via Venmo, PayPal, or check.
